History
Electricity
As of 1948, Durham's electricity supply was provided by 'North Eastern Electricity Board' (NEEB). In 1990, following privatisation, it was renamed 'Northern Electric'. Six years later in 1996 it was acquired by American corporation 'CalEnergy', that then formed a subsiduary called 'CE Electric' that was made to manage Northern Electric.
Gas
Between 1948 - 1973, Durham's gas supplied was fulfilled by 'Northern Gas Board'; however, after this time it became an area of the British Gas Corporation.
