Electricity
Newcastle-upon-Tyne used to be supplied by North Eastern Electricity Board for its electricity needs. After the privatisation of 1990, it was renamed 'Northern Electric' and was acquired by American Corporation 'CalEnergy' in 1996, which formed a subsiduary called 'CE Electric' in order to manage Northern Electric.

Newcastle-upon-Tyne was supplied by 'Northern Gas Board' until it became a region of the British Gas Corporation in 1973.
