History

Electricity

In 1947 the 'East Midlands Electricity Board' (EMEB) formed to create one of the 12 area electricity boards; however, after privatisation in 1990, it became a plc company. In 1998 it was acquired by Powergen, then rebranded, along with 'Midlands Electricity plc' as 'Central Works' in 2004. It is now part of the energy company E·ON.

Gas

Between 1948 and 1973, Nottingham's gas supply was provided by 'East Midlands Gas Board'. After this time, however, it became an area of the British Gas Corporation.
