About Selectra UK
We help households across the UK understand their energy, broadband and mobile options and spend less on their bills — through free comparison tools, plain-English guides and daily energy news.
Who we are
Selectra UK (Selectra Ltd) is part of Selectra, an international consumer-services company founded in 2007 that operates energy and utilities comparison services in more than a dozen countries. In the UK, our team tracks the Ofgem price cap, supplier tariffs and the broadband and mobile market so we can tell you, in plain English, where you can save.
How we make money
Our service is free to use. When you choose to switch through Selectra, some suppliers pay us a commission. We also earn from advertising on the site. This never changes the information we publish: our guides and news are written independently of any commercial relationship, and we tell you when a page contains an affiliate or sponsored link. We are not owned by, and do not act on behalf of, any energy supplier.
Our editorial standards
- Accuracy first. Every price, cap figure and statistic is sourced from a primary body — Ofgem, the supplier, or official market data — and dated. We use published list prices, never one-off promotions.
- Named, accountable authors. Articles carry a real byline. Each writer has a profile page setting out their experience and areas of expertise.
- Independence. Editorial decisions are made by the content team, not by commercial partners. Commercial content is clearly labelled.
- Kept up to date. Guides and news are reviewed as the market moves — each price-cap round, tariff change or regulatory update.
