History

Electricity

Before privatisation in 1990, the electricity in Bournemouth was supplied by 'Southern Electricity Board'. Thereafter it necame 'Southern Electric plc'. It merged with 'Scottish Hydro Electric plc' in 1998 to form 'Scottish & Southern Enery plc' which is the company that we now know as 'SSE'.

Gas

Bournemouth was supplied by 'Southern Gas Board' for its gas until 1973, which saw it become a part of the British Gas Corporation.
