POWER-GEN Europe is a three-day event for professionals in the European energy market. It offers a platform where stakeholders in the energy sector meet, learn and innovate. Find out how it has evolved to become Europe’s leading hub for business and technology.

About POWER-GEN Europe

Not to be confused with the defunct British energy supplier Powergen, POWER-GEN Europe organises discussions and workshops at each event. These promote best practices under the European energy market.

The event’s location varies from year to year. In 2018, POWER-GEN Europe hosted the exhibition in Vienna. In 2019 the event took place in Paris. It was co-located in partnership with European Utility Week. Clarion Events organises and coordinates the yearly exhibition.

Themes for discussions and workshops

Distributed energy generation was one of the key themes discussed at POWER-GEN Europe. Topics included gas-fired generation, district heating, hybrid power solutions and renewable fuels.

Lifecycle management was another big theme explored at the Paris event. Topics included gas turbines, nuclear energy, plant optimization and reusing coal plants.

GOOD TO KNOW:Lifecycle management assesses the environmental impact at each stage of a product's lifecycle. This ranges from the extraction of raw materials, their use, disposal and recycling.

Check out the short clip below in which the Event Director, Paddy Young, previews the show:

Partnerships with POWER-GEN Europe

The latest POWER-GEN Europe exhibition was co-located with European Utility Week. Clarion Events organised the event and invited over 800 exhibiting companies.

Clarion Events

The world's leading event organisers, Clarion Events, is an American based company. It merged with its US rival PennWell Corporation in 2018. PennWell's portfolio of events includes POWER-GEN Europe (known before as Electrify Europe).

With 550 employees, PennWell manages over 40 exhibitions and conferences across the world. It offers unified marketing solutions for energy services in the industrial technology sector. The Clarion-PennWell merger united two powerhouses that propelled the visibility of POWER-GEN Europe to new heights.

Merging with Clarion will enhance our offerings to the worldwide customers of PennWell's diversified portfolio of events, including the POWER-GEN series. (PennWell President and CEO Mark Wilmoth)

European Utility Week

European Utility Week is another yearly event that unites energy professionals. POWER-GEN Europe and European Utility Week shared the exhibition venue in Paris. It was co-located with European Utility Week. They pooled their resources and contacts to offer a bigger and more targeted event.

There was a strong presence from UK energy leaders at POWER-GEN Europe in Paris. How to meet the UK Government's net-zero carbon emissions 2050 pledge was at the top of their agenda.

By co-locating Power-GEN and European Utility Week, we will be able to offer a truly end-to-end power event for the whole electricity value chain. (Clarion Energy Managing Director, Rick Wall).
