Unfortunately, there is not an E.ON free phone number. As an 0345 number, the E.ON Energy contact number is a special type of landline phone number. The cost of calling this number is not linked with geographic locations within the country. It costs the same to call this type of number as it does to call a normal business or home landline.

If you're not sure if this type of phone number is included in your phone plan, try contacting E.ON through its live chat on its website. It took us less than a minute to get a response from the provider using this platform!

Emergency Contact Numbers

An energy-related emergency at your home could range from a power cut to a gas leak. Let’s look at each type so that you know which number to call if you find yourself in any of these situations.

Power cut

If your electricity goes off, first check whether the same has occurred at your neighbours' homes. Knock on their doors and ask if they still have an electricity connection. If they don't, there could be a power cut. In which case you should call 105.

This number is free from most landlines and mobile phones. You'll be put through to your local Distribution Network Operator who will do its best to fix the problem.

A power cut could be due to your trip switch being in the off position. Follow these steps to reset the switch:

  1. Unplug all electrical appliances in your home, turn the trip switch back on, and then, one by one, plug in each appliance.
  2. If one of them causes the trip switch to turn off again, you've found your faulty appliance that's causing a short circuit. Unplug it and don't use it. Replace it with a new one that doesn't interfere with your electrics system.
  3. If the trip switch doesn't turn back on, contact a local electrician to fix it.

Gas leak

If you smell gas at home, remember the following golden dos and don'ts:

Don’t
Do
light a cigarette, cigarette lighter, matches or candles.  keep open all the windows and doors.
turn any electrical appliances on or off.  turn the gas supply off at the meter (leave it off until you are certain that it's safe to turn back on).

To report a suspected gas leak, call the National Gas Service Emergency Line on 0800 111 999.

If you think the problem is coming from your boiler, contact E.ON on 0345 052 0000 to arrange a visit from a Gas Safe registered engineer. This professional will inspect your boiler and make sure it's operating safely.

If you've noticed that you no longer have a gas supply even though you have a prepayment meter which is in credit, call E.ON's PAYG team. The E.ON Energy contact number for this department is 0345 303 3040.

Other ways to contact E.ON

You lead a busy lifestyle, and sometimes you won't have the time to call the E.ON contact number and hold on the phone in order to get your question answered. Let's have a look at some other E.ON contact channels to help you get your query resolved.

Social media

At Selectra, we recommend using E.ON’s Facebook and Twitter channels to contact them. However, note that social media channels should only be used for general enquiries, as the response time is a lot slower compared to other E.ON contact channels. See our E.ON Reviews guide where we did a Mystery Shopper test to time how long it took us to get a reply.

Smartphone app

With E.ON's smartphone app, you can manage your E.ON account, make payments and send meter readings for your home or business premises. It’s also a great way to find emergency E.ON Energy contact numbers. You'll need to register for an online E.ON account before you can use the app.

The E.ON app is available to download for free from the App Store and Google Play.

Note the following fields you'll have to fill out:

  • Your query subject: Select your type of query from the drop-down menu. If you don't see an option that relates to your query, select "My query is about something else."

  • Your details: This includes your title, first name, last name, email address and account number. Your account number can be found on any E.ON bill. If you don't know your account number, you can leave this part blank.

  • Your address: Enter your street number and postcode.

  • Your query: You have 3000 characters allotted to tell E.ON what your query is.

E.ON Online Assistant

E.ON's online assistant is an automated FAQ page. To access the FAQ page, go to the E.ON homepage and click where it says "Account and help" in the top bar.

Scroll down and type in your question under where it says "Search" in red letters. Next, press the red button with a magnifying glass. Results that may be relevant to your query will then appear.

If the Online Assistant returns results that are not relevant to your question, try entering your question again but using different words to generate more relevant results.
