Fairerpower's partnership with Ovo has endedFairerpower, the Cheshire East Council run energy supplier, and Fairerpower Red Rose are no longer in service. Customers will continue to receive their gas and electricity from Ovo Energy and can still make use of their Fairerpower online accounts. Fairerpower is an energy supplier set up by Cheshire East council to supply gas and electricity to Cheshire residents and to Lancashire residents under the name Fairerpower Red Rose. The supplier works in partnership with Ovo Energy; Fairerpower sets the tariff and promotes the service, while Ovo Energy takes care of supplying electricity, metering, billing and collection.
To get an idea of the service provided by Fairerpower, we have taken a look at the energy supplier's profile on the customer review website Trustpilot, where it receives a below-average Trustscore of 2.2 out of 5.
Of the small sample available on the website, the majority of customers (80%) rated the supplier 'Bad', the worst rating allowed on the site. The remaining were split between 'Poor' and 'average'.
Price appears to be a sticking point, with many claiming that they were surprised by high prices and sudden bill increases. One reviewer claimed that they would not have saved any money by switching from one of the big six energy companies.
As I am currently with EDF (a Big 6 company) on a 12 month fixed deal until March next year I asked for a quote based on my annual usage. [Fairerpower's] quote of £129 per month/£1548 per annum was £383 per annum more than I currently pay-an increase of a massive 33%.
Fairerpower gave them a quote that was 33% more expensive than their existing tariff. However the reviewer did not explain that they would be getting 33% of their energy from renewables with Fairerpower, compared with only 8% from their existing supplier EDF Energy, well below the national average. Of course, those renewables come at a premium, which explains the higher price.
Tariffs & Prices
Fairerpower offers fixed rate, variable and prepayment (pay as you go) tariffs exclusively to residents in the Cheshire and Lancashire area. The supplier does not currently supply gas and electricity tariffs to businesses.
All available Fairerpower tariffs are listed in the table below. Please note that you can get economy 7 on all tariffs and there are no early exit fees for customers on fixed term or variable rate supplies.

Customers with Fairerpower online accounts can access the login portal by following the link below and filling in their credentials. If you have forgotten your password or username and wish to login you can reset your details by clicking on Reset my password link.

Smart meters are installed as standard for customers on prepayment tariffs. Fairerpower customers on fixed and variable rate tariffs can arrange to have a smart meter installed at their request. Fairerpower works in partnership with Ovo Energy to supply energy to households. Where your energy comes from will depend on how Ovo sources its supply. The current Fairerpower fuel mix is 84.6% natural gas and 15.4% renewables. If you are a new customer switching to Fairerpower or Ovo Energy you will receive at least 33% renewable electricity (79% from wind farms, 11% solar and 10% landfill gas).
