Npower login for residential customers

Most Npower customers are homeowners, so they’ve made the login process very quick and simple for everyone.

Four ways to get to the login page

To find the Npower login page, choose any of the four options below and you’ll quickly have access to your online account.

1. Google it

STEP 1: Type into the Google search bar: “Npower login”.

STEP 2: Choose the result that reads “Log in - Npower”. This will usually be the first result.

STEP 3: Click on the text “Log in - Npower” and the link will take you to their login page.

2. Find their login page via their homepage

STEP 1: Google “Npower”.

STEP 2: Click the first link that appears, i.e. the top line that reads “Gas & electricity energy suppliers for home or business | Npower”.This will take you to the Npower homepage.

STEP 3: Hit the dark pink “Log in” box located on the top right-hand corner of the screen, as shown in the image below. This will take you to the Npower login page.

3. Access the login page directly

The quickest and easiest way to get to the Npower login page is by opening up the page directly. Click on the button below to get to their Npower login page.

TOP TIP: Save this page in your favourites bar. You can do this by clicking the star symbol on the far right of your browser’s address bar. The advantage of doing this is to save time and get to the Npower login page whenever you need it with just one click.

Npower Login

Npower smartphone app

With the Npower mobile app, you can log into your account at any time, without having to enter any login details as you would do in the previous three login methods mentioned above.

Once you’re logged in via the mobile app, you can do many things, from tracking your usage to planning future events on your account. You can download the app for iOS or Android.

Npower login for returning customers

Now that you’ve reached the login page, you can get logged in with just three easy steps:

STEP 1: Enter your email address or username in the first box. Whichever one you gave to Npower when you switched to them. If in doubt, first try typing in your main email address, as this would be the one you most likely gave to Npower.

STEP 2: Enter your password in the second box. Again, this will be the one you used to register for an online account.

STEP 3: Hit the blue “Log in” button. Congratulations, you have now logged in to your Npower account!

TOP TIPS:

  • Check the box next to “Remember my username”. That way your browser will remember it and store it, saving you time from typing it in each time you want to log in.
  • Get your browser to remember your password as well by using a password manager. In fact, this will keep track of all your usernames and passwords so you don’t need to worry about remembering which one corresponded for which site. Your browser will memorise and store them all for you.

No Npower login with social media!Unfortunately, Npower does not have access to their login page from either of their main social media platforms, Facebook and Twitter. So if you’re browsing Npower’s social media posts and tweets and want to log in to your account, you’ll need to choose one of the four methods above.

Forgotten your login details?

You’ve already registered for an online account, but perhaps you’ve forgotten your username, password, or both? Follow these easy steps to get the details you need to log in.

STEP 1: On the login page, click the first link under the blue “Log in” button, which reads “I’ve forgotten my login details”.

link to I've forgotten my login details

STEP 2: Select the corresponding option that’s relevant to you:

  • I’ve forgotten my password
  • I’ve forgotten my username
  • I’ve forgotten both

 Forgotten password

If you’ve forgotten your password, you can’t ask Npower to remind you what it was. Instead, you will have to reset it. That means creating another password.

Npower can reset your password by one of two options. Either reset it your username or your account details.

At Selectra, we recommend the first option. Enter the username, which could be the email address your account was originally registered with. That way, Npower can email you a link to reset your password.

 Forgotten username

If you’ve forgotten your username, Npower can “remind” you what it is. This means that you can continue to use the same username, be it an email address or otherwise, without having to create another one.

You’ll have 2 ways of getting your reminder. Either:

  1. Remind me using my email address, or
  2. Remind me using my account details.

Again, at Selectra we would recommend the first option. That way Npower will email your username to you straight away.

 Forgotten both username AND password

These things happen. You can’t remember either one or the other of your login details to access your online account.

STEP 1: Select the “I’ve forgotten both” button.

STEP 2: Enter your account number. What is your account number you may ask? This is a nine-digit number on the right of your bill as shown in the image below.

If you have recently signed up with Npower and you haven’t yet received your first bill, then contact them to ask for it. They’ll most likely ask you some basic security questions to ensure you’re the account holder and that you indeed live at the address that’s registered for the supply of gas and electricity. See our contact Npower guide to find the contact details you need (coming soon).

STEP 3: Enter your last name in the second box and your postcode in the third box.

STEP 4: Hit the big blue “Find my details” button. Npower will then find your email address or username as well as your password, and email you a link to reset your password.

Register for an online account to log in for the first time

If you haven’t registered for an online account with Npower, you won’t have your email address or password to log in as per the steps above. Follow the simple steps below to create and activate your online account to log in.

STEP 1: On the log in page, click on the second link below the big blue “Log in” button. This is the one that reads “Activate yours here”.

STEP 2: Under the section “Your account information”, enter your account number in the first box.

STEP 3: In the second box, type your last name as it appears on your bill. Again, if you haven't yet received your first bill and can’t remember what you gave Npower as your surname, you should contact them.

STEP 4: Enter your postcode in the third box. This should be the postcode of the address which is registered as the supply address of the account.

STEP 5: Create an email address or username. We at Selectra would recommend you use your main email address as this is the one you will be most likely to remember in the future.

STEP 6: Create a password and then type it in again in the subsequent box. Remember that your password must contain…

  • At least one number
  • At least one letter
  • And is between 7 and 20 characters long

STEP 7: Hit the big blue “Continue” button.

STEP 8: Open your email account and look for the last email you received from Npower. They’ll provide you with a link to confirm the registration of your new online account. Click on that link. Congratulations, you now have an online account with Npower!

How do I update my email details?

Perhaps you like the sound of another username instead of the one you used to register an account with? Maybe you’ve changed your email address and now want Npower to contact you on that one instead? Whichever update you want to make to your account, you can do it quickly by following the steps below:

STEP 1: Log in to your online account following the steps above.

STEP 2: Go to the "Profile" tab.

STEP 3: Change your email address in the "Email" and "Confirm email" fields.

STEP 4: Click "Save Changes".

STEP 5: Open your email account and look for the last email you received from Npower. Click on the "Confirm email address" button in the email.

Good to know:If you can’t remember your new email address, you can get a reminder by getting another confirmation email. You can do this by clicking on the link in the message at the top of "Account Summary".

How do I update other details?

If you want to update any other account details not mentioned above, such as your name, surname, telephone number, follow these three steps below:

STEP 1: Log in to your online account following the steps above.

STEP 2: Go to the "Profile" tab.

STEP 3: Choose the relevant account detail you want to change.

STEP 4: Make the change by introducing the new, updated account detail.

STEP 5: Click “Save Changes”.

What can I do with my Npower account login access?

Npower gives you an array of benefits with your online account. The idea is to make your life easier by doing common transactions without any fuss and getting certain information without having to contact them. Let’s have a look at some of the things you can do with your Npower online account.

Send a meter reading

Firstly, ensure you know how to read your gas and electricity meters. You can find instructions on how to read your prepayment meter if you have one.

Remember that if you have a smart meter, you won’t need to submit any meter readings to Npower since they will receive them automatically.

In your Npower online account, you can send them your meter readings. You can also set up meter read reminders (assuming you don’t have a smart meter). This means that you will receive reminders, either by email or by SMS, when it’s time to submit a reading.

Track your energy usage

npower energy tracker

Another benefit of having an online account with Npower is the ability to use their Energy Tracker. You will be able to see how much energy you’ve used in kWh and in terms of pounds and pence. Here are some other benefits you can expect from using Energy Tracker:

  • See how much gas and electricity you and your family are using each month.
  • See how changes to your home, lifestyle or circumstances affect your household’s energy use.
  • Compare energy usage and expenditure across two years to see if you're using more or less energy than before.
  • Use the forecast to predict your future energy usage and budget for your bills.
  • See how much CO2 your energy use has created.
  • Simple to use on your laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Good to Know:Remember that if you’re struggling to pay your bills, Npower offers financial assistance through its numerous grants. Be sure to explore the options open to you so that you and your loved ones can avoid falling into fuel poverty.

See old bills and your new bill

In this new digital age, paper bills are slowly becoming extinct. It’s now very typical to receive your bills online. Npower, for now, offers both options:

  1. Paper bills - that are sent to your home address.
  2. Digital bills - that you can access on your online account. You’ll also receive an email when your new bill is ready.

If you’re receiving your bills digitally, your bill summary gives you your balance, energy usage and any payments or refunds. What’s more, you can download all your Npower bills for the last two years.

If you'd rather get your bills in paper form (i.e. by post) you can do this at any time. Simply follow these three easy steps:

STEP 1: Log in and go to your profile following the points above on how to log in.

STEP 2: Under 'Online Services' option, select the paper bills option.

STEP 3: Change your settings to receive your paper bills by post.

Three of the most significant features offered by Npower to its business customers include their vast “Account Online”, their energy management tool named “Intelligent Analytics” and their application that provides market information, named “Risk Navigator”. Let's take a look at each of these three features where we’ll see the features and benefits on offer.

1. My Account Online

Managing gas and electricity for business is certainly different from that in a household. You’ll know that usage will depend on the size of your company and type of business tariff you’re on. These are just some of the factors you need to consider when choosing among business energy suppliers. To stand out from the crowd, Npower offers its business customers a wealth of functions via their online account. Here are just some of them:

  • Create, view and download energy reports and summary reports.
  • Access a full listing of commodity and non-commodity charges.
  • Send meter readings and account enquiries online.
  • Update your account as necessary, such as when your business premises or personnel teams expand.

2. Intelligent Analytics

Intelligent Analytics is an energy management tool. It provides detailed consumption data to help you understand and manage your business utilities. It comes in three versions depending on your business needs:

  1. Intelligent Analytics: Monitor
  2. Intelligent Analytics: Manager
  3. Intelligent Analytics: Live

To discover the difference between these three versions and what they mean for your business, check out our guide for Npower Business guide (coming soon).

3. Risk Navigator

Risk Navigator is Npower’s website application that sends you energy market information to support your energy purchasing decisions. This includes market intelligence, news and analysis reports.

The data you could receive can include wholesale energy prices to position overviews. If these technical terms don’t mean much to you but you’d like to find out more, they’re all explained in our Npower for Business guide.

The services and products mentioned on this website may only represent a small selection of the options available to you.
