Peterborough Energy launched as a partnership between the Peterborough City Council and Ovo Energy. It aimed to offer competitive prices to residents in Peterborough. The partnership ended in 2019. Customers are now part of Ovo.

Peterborough Energy customers are supplied by Ovo Energy.

Peterborough Energy customer FAQs

1) What happened to Peterborough Energy?

Peterborough Energy functioned as a “white label” agreement in partnership with Ovo Energy, in which the latter supplied the energy under the Peterborough Energy brand name. Other companies, such as Woodland Trust Energy, also partnered with Ovo to supply energy. The partnership ended in the summer of 2019, but customers continue to be supplied by Ovo.

2) My account was in credit. Will I get my money back?

Your credit balance with Peterborough Energy will be honoured by Ovo Energy. Customers with a credit balance equal to or greater than £25 can ask for a refund.

3) Can I switch to a different supplier?

Customers are free to look at different energy suppliers.

4) Who do I contact about my energy account?

Peterborough Energy customers should contact Ovo Energy for any questions regarding their account.

5) Will I have to pay more for my energy now?

Former Peterborough Energy customers should have received their new rates from Ovo. If you have not signed up for a new tariff, you’re likely on a standard variable tariff with the new supplier.

Peterborough Energy login: how do I access my account?

Are you trying to access the Peterborough Energy login page? It can be difficult to find since the company no longer has a webpage. However, the online portal is still available online.

To access the Peterborough Energy login page, type Peterborough Energy login into your search engine. Click on the option that says Peterborough Energy Portal.

What happened to my Peterborough Energy tariff?

Peterborough Energy had kept its tariffs simple when it was operational. The supplier had three simple tariffs: a fixed tariff; a variable tariff and a prepayment tariff. None of the tariffs had exit fees, so customers were free to leave if they found a better deal.

Unless you have signed up to a new contract, you are likely on Ovo’s standard variable tariff. Even though this is cheaper than Peterborough's standard variable tariff, cheaper options may be available on the market.

Peterborough Energy reviews: what did customers say?

speech bubbles

Peterborough Energy had very few customer reviews on review sites such as Trustpilot. On Google reviews, Peterborough Energy had just two reviews and an average rating of three out of five stars. The one customer review left on Trustpilot gave the supplier just one star.

Since Peterborough Energy had such few reviews, we recommend checking out reviews for Ovo Energy since they took over brand.

Former Peterborough Energy customers will be pleased to discover that Ovo has an overall rating of 4.3 out of five stars on Trustpilot. The reviews generally praise the supplier for its high-quality customer service and affordable pricing.

“I have been with OVO Energy for several years and have always been satisfied with the pricing compared with other suppliers. The customer service is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful and will always do their best to ensure that one is on the best possible tariff.”

Unfortunately, former Peterborough Energy customers will no longer have access to unique benefits like home visits, in which an energy expert would visit the property to help with understanding bills or switching tariffs.

Did the supplier use smart meters?

electricity meter

Peterborough Energy had begun installing smart meters to make it easier for customers to monitor their usage, save money and top up. Peterborough Energy even offered smart meters to new PAYG customers as standard.

With smart meters, customers no longer have to submit meter readings because the meter automatically sends them to the supplier. Smart meters also help customers to cut back on their energy bills because they are able to monitor their consumption in near real-time.

What made up its fuel mix?

At the end of Peterborough Energy’s partnership with over, customers were consuming electricity that came from 100% renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind power. Since former Peterborough Energy customers are supplied by Ovo, the energy they consume will match Ovo's energy mix.
