1) What happened to Peterborough Energy?

Peterborough Energy functioned as a “white label” agreement in partnership with Ovo Energy, in which the latter supplied the energy under the Peterborough Energy brand name. Other companies, such as Woodland Trust Energy, also partnered with Ovo to supply energy. The partnership ended in the summer of 2019, but customers continue to be supplied by Ovo.

2) My account was in credit. Will I get my money back?

Your credit balance with Peterborough Energy will be honoured by Ovo Energy. Customers with a credit balance equal to or greater than £25 can ask for a refund via the new supplier’s online portal.

3) Can I switch to a different supplier?

Customers are free to switch to a different energy supplier. We actually recommend you compare rates and switch to a supplier with a better deal. Unless you have entered into a fixed-rate contract that has an exit fee, you will not be charged for switching. If your account has significant debt, you must set up a repayment plan in order to switch.

4) Who do I contact about my energy account?

Peterborough Energy customers should contact Ovo Energy for any questions regarding their account. For general inquiries or help choosing a new tariff, customers can also give us a call on 020 3936 0059. Lines are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 8 pm.

5) Will I have to pay more for my energy now?

Former Peterborough Energy customers should have received their new rates from Ovo. If you have not signed up for a new tariff, you’re likely on a standard variable tariff with the new supplier (which tends to be the most expensive). Are you trying to access the Peterborough Energy login page? It can be difficult to find since the company no longer has a webpage. However, the online portal is still available online.

What happened to my Peterborough Energy tariff?

Peterborough Energy kept its tariffs simple. The supplier had three simple tariffs: a fixed tariff; a variable tariff and a prepayment tariff. None of the tariffs had exit fees, so customers were free to leave if they found a better deal.

Did the supplier use smart meters?

Peterborough Energy had begun installing smart meters to make it easier for customers to monitor their usage, save money and top up. Peterborough Energy even offered smart meters to new PAYG customers as standard.

With smart meters, customers no longer have to submit meter readings because the meter automatically sends them to the supplier. Smart meters also help customers to cut back on their energy bills because they are able to monitor their consumption in near real-time.

What made up its fuel mix?

At the end of Peterborough Energy’s partnership with over, customers were consuming electricity that came from 100% renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind power. Since former Peterborough Energy customers are still supplied by Ovo, the energy they consume is still 100% renewable.
