Tariffs and Prices
Peterborough Energy doesn’t have as many tariffs as their partner company Ovo, but prices are comparable.
Peterborough Energy keep their tariffs simple. They have three simple tariffs: a fixed tariff with a year contract; a variable tariff and a prepayment tariff. None of the tariffs have exit fees so customers are free to leave if they can find a better deal.
The company is especially sympathetic to customers who have had problems with debt in the past and have various methods to help customers pay back debt in a manageable way.
Last year, Peterborough Energy welcomed their 6000th customer. The council predict that so far they have saved residents about £1.4 million on their energy bills. The council wants to make energy bills fairer, especially for PAYG customers who often get the rawest deal. Over 1000 households on prepayment meters have already switched.
Councillor John Holdich, Leader of Peterborough City Council, said: "I'm delighted that 6,000 households have joined me on the Peterborough Energy tariff. The level of savings achieved by some of the customers is a good indication that many Peterborough households are still paying too much for their energy."

This is good news for consumers who are concerned about the planet as they can save money on their energy bills while doing their part for the planet as well.
Ovo Energy is committed to delivering more renewable energy and has halved their CO2 emissions in the last three years. Peterborough Energy also enjoys the benefits of this environmental conscience. The average CO2 produced per kWh is 290g, but Peterborough Energy is producing only 183g per Kwh.
Peterborough Energy is helping its customers install smart meters to make it easier for them to monitor their usage, save money and top up more easily. Peterborough Energy is already offering smart meters to new PAYG customers as standard.
Smart meters help people save money by making us more aware of how much money they are spending on our gas and electricity. The meters display how much energy is being used in real time. This means that customers can make changes to their energy usage and save money. A recent study by Smart Energy GB showed that 79% of customers took steps to reduce their energy use after installing the meters.
Smart meter installation is quick and simple but how long they will take to install will depend on your postcode. If you want to find out more about how smart meters can save you money then you can read our Ultimate Guide to Smartmeters.
