Scottish Power Login: How-to & Troubleshooting Guide

With a Scottish Power online account, you can upload meter readings, view and pay your bills, and keep track of your energy usage, all in one place. Find out how to log into your account and troubleshoot any login issues with this Scottish Power Login guide.


Scottish Power Login tutorial

To get started you need to make sure that you have previously registered for an online account. If you haven’t, don’t worry. You can do so by heading over to the Scottish Power website and clicking on the ‘My Account’ tab in the menu bar. If you have already registered and are trying to get back in to use one of the many online services, follow the Scottish Power login tutorial below.

  1. Make your way over the Scottish Power website: You can do this either by searching for Scottish Power on any search engine or, if you have the website saved, accessing it directly. We recommend saving the URL in your browser’s bookmarks folder for easy access in the future.
  2. Click on the ‘My Account’ tab on the very right of the menu bar - from whichever page you land on in the site. This will open a dropdown from which you can select the green ‘Login now’ button. You’ll be directed to the login portal.
  3. Once the portal has loaded, you’ll have to enter your personal account details. These are:
    • The email address that you registered when you first opened your account.
    • The password that you set or may have reset.
  4. Hit the green login button below the email and password fields.

When you have successfully completed the Scottish Power login process, you will arrive at your account dashboard in the ‘Account Overview’ section of the site. Here you will see the following information:

  • The type of Scottish Power tariff that you’re on.
  • Your account number.
  • Your account balance.
  • Your payment method.
  • The date that your next bill is due.
  • The date of your last bill.

Bills, payments and meter readings direct login

You can access the ‘Enter Meter Readings’, ‘My Balance & Bills’ and ‘My Energy Usage’ sections of your account directly, as opposed to through your account dashboard, by clicking the ‘My Account’ tab on the Scottish Power site’s menu bar. On the dropdown, click on the relevant link. You can choose from:

  1. ‘Enter your meter readings’.
  2. ‘View your bills and balance’.
  3. ‘Manage your monthly payment’.

All three links will take you to identical Scottish Power login portals. However, once you enter your account login details - email address and password - you will automatically be directed to the specific section for which you clicked.

Accessing sections of your account in this way is useful when you’re short for time and need to carry out vital administrative functions.

Scottish Power Business Login

Business customers will have to go through slightly different processes than domestic customers in order to access their accounts online. Below we have Scottish Power Business Login tutorials for both Small Business and Commercial Business customers.

Small Business Customers

The Small Business login portal is identical to that of domestic customers but can only be accessed through the Small Business Section of the site. To get onto the relevant section follow the instructions below:

  1. Head over to the Scottish Power website’s homepage.
  2. Locate the green ‘Small Business’ link at the very top right-hand corner of the site’s content margin (it’s right next to the Commercial Business link, both are imposed on a very thin grey banner spanning the width of the site). Click on it. You will be directed to the Small Business homepage.
  3. From the Small Business homepage, click on the ‘My Account’ tab on the very right of the menu bar. This will open a dropdown from which you can select the green ‘Login now’ button or links to specific account functions. You’ll be directed to the Small Business Scottish Power login portal.
  4. Enter your personal account details. These are:
    • The email address that you registered when you first opened your account.
    • The password that you set or may have reset.
  5. Hit the green login button below the email and password fields

We recommend that you save the Small Business login URL to your browser’s bookmarks folder for easy access in the future.

Commercial customers

Accessing the Commerical Business portal requires that you navigate to the Commercial Energy section of the Scottish Power website. To do so:

  1. You must find and click on the green ‘Commerical Energy’ link right at the top right of the site’s content margin (it’s right next to the Small Business link). This will take you to the dedicated Commercial Energy Scottish Power site.
  2. Access the Commerical Business Scottish Power login portal by clicking on the orange ‘Log in’ button on the left of the homepage’s banner.
  3. Enter your personal account details. These are:
    • The email address that you registered when you first opened your account.
    • The password that you set or may have reset.

If you haven’t yet registered for a Commercial Business online account, you can do so as a customer or broker via the login portal page. You will need to provide your Mpan and company number or the name and registration number of your organisation.

Scottish Power login troubleshooting

If you cannot log in to your account the most likely answer is that you have entered the incorrect login details - either your password, email address, or both. Please ensure that you enter your login details carefully.

It may, however, on occasion, be that the online service is down. To check if the service is running, use the service status checker on the Scottish Power website.

Should the issue be that you cannot remember your password or the email address you used when you opened your account, follow the troubleshooting instructions in the sections below.

I forgot my password

To reset your password, simply click on the green ‘Forgotten password?’ link in the Scottish Power login portal. It’s just below the email address and password fields.

In the subsequent page arrived at once you’ve clicked on the link, enter your email address where prompted and click on the orange ‘Request password’ button.

You will receive an email from Scottish Power with a unique link which you can use to change your password. Click on the link and follow the prompts to reset your password. Remember to keep your password secure by avoiding the use of any personal details, names, places and dates.

We recommend that you change your password frequently for security reasons and that you use a password manager to keep track of all your passwords. Please note that you can also change your password from within your online account.

I forgot my email address

If you have forgotten your username, the first thing to do is to check if you have received any emails from Scottish Power to your usual email account. If you do not have access to your email account or don’t remember it, you will have to contact the Scottish Power Customer Service contact number.

I forgot my email and password?

If you have forgotten both your email address and password, follow the above instructions to recuperate your email address first and then reset your password. You’ll be up and running in no time. Don’t forget to note down your login details so that you can access your account without a hitch the next time you go to the Scottish Power login portal.

What can I do on my Scottish Power account?

Your online account is a central hub containing all the personal and transactional information that you have given over to the supplier for the provision of its services. It lets you carry out a number of administrative tasks required to maintain your energy supply active. Below is a full list of features you can use in your Scottish Power online account:

  • View and pay your energy bills online.
  • See your transaction history.
  • Change your payment method.
  • View which tariff you’re currently on.
  • Change your tariff.
  • Submit meter readings (recommended every 90 days).
  • Change your personal details.
  • View your energy usage history.
  • Access the Scottish Power Moving Home form to notify the supplier of your move.

You cannot get access to information about the Scottish Power Hardship Fund from the login portal because it is managed by Social Enterprise Direct. In order to access information about the scheme you should contact the Hardship Fund directly.

Does Scottish Power have an app?

Scottish Power does indeed have an app through which you can access your online account. The app is available in the App Store and Google Play.

When you open the app for the first time, you’ll be met with a mobile version of the Scottish Power login portal. Enter your login details to access your account. You have to set a unique pin and you may enable fingerprint or face recognition access - depending on which phone you use. With these modes of mobile access, you won’t have to log in using your email address or password every time you go on the app.
