FAQs for Woodland Trust Energy customers

1) What happened to Woodland Trust Energy?

Woodland Trust Energy functioned as a “white label” agreement in partnership with Ovo Energy, in which the latter supplied the energy under the Woodland Trust brand name. Through the partnership, 2.5% of each customer's annual bill was donated to Woodland Trust to protect woodland and wildlife throughout the UK.

The partnership ended in 2015, but customers continue to be supplied by Ovo. Although Woodland Trust and Ovo no longer have a partnership, Woodland Trust still continues its conservation work.

2) My account was in credit. Will I get my money back?

Your credit balance with Woodland Trust Energy will be honoured by Ovo. Customers with a credit balance equal to or greater than £25 can ask for a refund via the supplier’s online portal.

3) Will I have to pay more with my new supplier?

Former Woodland Trust Energy customers should have received their new rates from their new suppleir. If you have not signed up for a new tariff, you’re likely on a standard variable tariff (which tends to be the most expensive). We recommend you compare tariffs in your area to find the best rate.

4) How do I contact my new energy supplier?

Woodland Trust Energy customers should contact Ovo for any questions regarding their account. For general inquiries or help choosing a new tariff, customers can also give us a call on 020 3936 0059. Lines are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 8 pm.

5) I don't want to be with Ovo. Can I switch to a different energy supplier.

Former Woodland Trust Energy customers are not obliged to stay with the new supplier. We actually recommend comparing energy tariffs in your area and switching to a better deal. Give us a call here at Selectra to get a free comparison.

Woodland Trust Energy review

world in hands

Woodland Trust Energy brought together Woodland Trust and Ovo Energy in a partnership which aimed to provide renewable energy and also helped save British woodland. Woodland Trust Energy had a number of benefits for environmentally conscious consumers. The money raised from the campaign was enough to plant more than 8,000 trees annually.

Woodland Trust Energy is no longer in operation; however, there are currently a number of tariffs available with other suppliers for consumers who are interested in environmental issues.

The voluntary Green Energy Certification scheme, which is set up by Ofgem, endorses various companies. Some companies which consumers may be interested in include: Ecotricity, Good Energy and Green Energy UK. If you’d like a comprehensive comparison of the green energy market you can give us a call on 020 3936 0059.

What tariffs did the supplier offer?

Woodland Trust Energy had two different green tariffs which used varying levels of renewable energy: The New Energy Plan and The Green Energy Plan. Both of the tariffs were fixed tariffs, meaning that the rates were guaranteed for the duration of the contract. Customers will be pleased to know that their new energy supplier provides 100% renewable energy for all its tariffs.

  • New Energy plan
  • 15% renewable energy
  • 3% Interest awards
  • 12 month fixed rate
  • Pay by direct debit
  • Green Energy Plan
  • 100% Renewable Energy
  • 3% Interest awards

Unless you have signed up for a new contract with Ovo, you are likely on the supplier's standard variable tariff (which tends to be the most expensive).
