AA offers two main types of car insurance policies:

There are three add-ons you can include on your car insurance policy:
- Motor legal assistance - If you are involved in an incident and it’s the other party’s fault this will cover legal costs to help recover your excess, alternative transport costs, loss of earnings or personal injury compensation.
- Excess protection - This will enable you to claim back your excess on a claim if you’re at fault or the other party can’t be found due to no identification.
- Motor accident plan - This pays up to £60,000 if you die or are injured in a car accident. This amount is in addition to any payment from your car insurance policy.

When you take out vehicle breakdown cover it is for your vehicle, no matter who is driving it. You can choose from a range of options making your cover as extensive or as simple as you like.
You can call a mechanic straight from the AA app. That way you can track where they are until they reach you. Furthermore, the app will also give you great discounts at over 1,300 restaurants, pubs and service stations.
With AA motorbike insurance you can choose from the following options: 1) third party, 2) third party, fire and theft and 3) comprehensive cover.
On top of the standard cover, here are some of the extras you can add on:
- Legal expenses cover - If you are involved in an accident that is not your fault, this will cover you for up to £100,000 worth of legal expenses. It will help recover uninsured losses such as loss of earnings, personal injury compensation and personal belongings that are damaged.
- Helmets and leather cover - This will cover your riding gear for up to £1,000.
- Personal accident cover - In the event of accidental injury, disability or death to yourself, you are covered for up to £25,000.
- Replacement vehicle - If your motorbike isn’t rideable after an accident or theft or attempted theft, you will receive a hire bike for up to 14 days.
- Excess protect - In the event of accidental damage, fire, theft, vandalism or flood, your policy excess will be covered up to £600.

AA car insurance cancellation policy
The AA car insurance cancellation policy allows you to cancel at any time. However, there may be some fees involved and whether you get all of your premium back will depend on if your policy has commenced or not.
If you cancel within 14 days and cover hasn’t commenced
The 14 days start from the date you receive your policy documentation or the date you enter into the contract (whichever is later). In this case, you would receive your full premium back that you paid as well as the £28 arrangement fee.
If you cancel within 14 days and cover has commenced
Again, the 14 days start from the date you receive your policy documentation or the date you enter into the contract (whichever is later). In this instance, you will receive any unused cover back, calculated on a daily pro-rata basis. The charge for your period of cover used will be a minimum of £15 and you would not be entitled to receive the £28 arrangement fee back.
If you cancel after 14 days
The 14 days stipulated is the same as in the above example. As long as you haven’t claimed you will receive the pro-rata amount back for the cover that you haven’t used. The charge for your period of cover used will be a minimum of £15 and you will not receive the £28 arrangement fee back. On top of this, you will be charged £30 for cancelling.
