AA car insurance prices vary hugely with your age, postcode, mileage, occupation and no-claim discount, but the broker model means the AA quote is usually within striking distance of the cheapest aggregator price. The benchmark figures below come from the ABI's Motor Insurance Premium Tracker (Q4 2025) and our own May 2026 quote tests on a 2020 VW Golf, fully comprehensive, 8,000 miles a year, 5+ years no-claim discount.

After two years of double-digit increases, the ABI's Premium Tracker shows UK motor premiums fell 4% year-on-year in Q1 2026 as claims inflation eased. That makes 2026 a particularly good year to shop around at renewal instead of letting the AA auto-renew.

How to get an AA car insurance quote

There are two routes:

  1. Online: go to theaa.com/car-insurance and click 'Get a quote'. Allow about 10 minutes to enter your details; the AA shows the panel prices in a single results page.
  2. By phone: call 0800 107 9920, Mon–Fri 08:00–20:00, Sat 09:00–17:00. Phone agents can quote on cars and risks the website refuses (modified cars, certain occupations).

Whichever channel you use, have your driving licence number, vehicle reg, mileage and full address handy. The AA will offer to add breakdown cover during the quote, you can decline without losing the insurance discount.


My AA login for car insurance

The My AA account is the same login for breakdown, insurance and driving lessons. From the app or web account you can:

  • View, download and email your certificate, policy schedule and IPID at any time.
  • Update vehicle details, driver details and mileage (some changes still trigger a phone call to the underwriter).
  • See your renewal date and price three weeks before renewal, and turn auto-renewal on or off.
  • Submit and track a claim from the My AA app, including uploading photos and damage reports.

AA car insurance cancellation policy

The AA gives you a 14-day cooling-off period from the date you receive your documents (or from when cover starts, if later) to cancel and get most of your money back. After that, you can still cancel but the fees increase. Current AA car insurance cancellation rules:
