Whether you’re going on that once in a lifetime trip or an annual family holiday, you want to find the perfect travel insurance for you. Find out what Ageas Travel Insurance can offer you, including all the key policy details, plus extras like wedding cover. Could Ageas be the right provider for you? We’ve done the hard work for you, so all you need to do is grab a cuppa and have a read of this overview.

Ageas Travel Insurance Reviews

Ageas Travel Insurance is not a household name yet. The reason for this is they don’t feature on comparison sites and you cannot get an online quote. They have positioned themselves uniquely in the market and expect potential customers to contact a broker in order to get a quote and buy a policy.

For this reason, you may notice a lack of Ageas Travel Insurance reviews online. We did some digging though and managed to find a few. Let’s take a look at what industry professional, Defaqto, had to say first.

Defaqto independently reviews travel policies in the UK based on quality and policy features. It gave Ageas a four star rating for both its single trip and annual multi-trip policy. That’s a solid score and means both policies offer high-quality features and fairly comprehensive cover.

As we mentioned above, customer reviews are thin on the ground. TrustPilot has 2,616 customer ratings for Ageas, but this is for Ageas Insurance as a whole. The general consensus is positive though. With an average of four stars, this puts Ageas Insurance ahead of most insurers on TrustPilot. While this is a great score, bear in mind all sales for travel insurance are performed by third party brokers so would not be picked up under the Ageas name.

We did find one unhappy customer, Craig, who left a review on UK Insurance Index. Craig’s luggage went missing somewhere between checking it in at the airport on his way home from his holiday and arriving in the UK.

papers

He filed the claim with Ageas and spent months chasing them, in which time they never contacted him. After several months, a loss adjuster contacted him and asked a series of questions. The same person then repeatedly called Craig asking the same questions. Thirteen months had passed at the time Craig posted the review and he had contacted the Financial Ombudsman because Ageas had refused to pay out.

We looked on the Financial Ombudsman Service website and Ageas Insurance Limited had 661 complaints filed against them between July and December 2018. Of these, 43.4% were closed within three days. The average percentage of claims dealt with in three days across all insurance companies was 36.6%, indicating that Ageas was quicker at handling the complaints by a narrow margin.

Ageas Travel Insurance Policy Information

Ageas offers the following policy types:

Within the policy types there are no options on the level of cover you receive, whereas many insurers will offer two or three bands. You can add extras on such as baggage, wedding cover, winter sports and golf. Ageas offers many sports as part of the standard policy even gorilla trekking, shark diving or abseiling, but they also provide additional adventure sport cover if your particular thrill-seeking activity isn’t included.

Check with your broker about any activities you are planning for you trip and with luck you may be covered at no extra cost. As we mentioned earlier, you can only buy Ageas travel insurance through a broker. Want to know how to purchase through a broker? Find a broker and follow these four steps below:

What would you like to insure?

Type in ‘Travel’ and you will see the following options displayed:

  • Travel: General
  • Travel: Working Abroad
  • Travel: Strokes
  • Travel: Up to 110 Years Old
  • Travel: Up to 75 Years Old

Enter your full postcode (optional) or you can select the box next to ‘Use my location’. In either case, the results will be based on the distance the broker is from you.
You will be presented with a map and list of brokers. Click on any of the brokers’ names and you will get the following details: broker website, email address, telephone and fax (if available).
Contact your preferred broker and provide the relevant details they request. You will then be presented with a quote/s and can follow through with the purchase if you wish.

The policy information provided in the following sections should be used as a guide only. As Ageas will only provide quotes through a broker, you would need to speak directly with a broker to receive your specific coverage and limits. They will also provide pricing information at the time of quoting. If you are like most of us and get baffled by all the jargon and choices, why not read our handy travel insurance guide before contacting a broker?
