BT Mobile perks

In today’s competitive telecoms market, it’s no surprise that providers are pushing to offer you more than just the standard calls, data and texts you’ve come to expect. Let’s take a look at the top 8 benefits you stand to enjoy as a BT Mobile customer:

1.Worry free returns

Sometimes we need a little bit of thinking time to cool off after a big purchase. Thankfully, BT accommodates for this by offering a 30 day cooling off period for their sim only and family sim plans. If you’re not happy within the first 30 days, you’ll get all of your money back for everything included in your plan.

2.EE network coverage

EE network coverage tower

BT customers can benefit from its use of the EE network for phone signal - one of the strongest networks in the United Kingdom. Those on the BT network may be happy to learn that in 2018, EE outperformed its competitors for mobile internet speeds and various aspects of coverage, as you can see below:

  • Overall download speed: EE topped the charts for mobile download speeds overall in 2018.
  • 3G download speed: EE wears the 3G download speed crown with a speed of 7.78 Mbps.
  • 4G download speed: EE has the fastest 4G download speeds at 29.02 Mbps.
  • Slowest latency: EE has the least lag between the network and your device.
  • 4G availability: EE had 86.62% geographic coverage levels, the highest of all the networks in 2018.
  • Geographic coverage: The level of coverage across the UK landmass is the highest on the EE network at 84% in 2018.

3.Add SIMs and save

A great option for families: BT offers multiple sims for less. With Family SIM you can have multiple sim on one bill, all with their own separate data, calls and text allowances. The first sim you buy on this plan has a contract length of 12 months and even if you have two seperate existing sims with BT mobile you can choose to combine them. Once you have your first sim the subsequent sims can be flexible contract 30 days rolling sims. The more sims you add the more money you can save. Awesome!

4.Discounts for BT broadband customers

If you already use BT broadband or are thinking of switching broadband providers, it’s worth noting that mobile charges can be discounted for existing BT customers. BT isn’t the only provider that offers combined mobile and broadband deals however, with competitors like Sky and Vodafone also offering combined packages.

5.BT Sports

If you’re a sports fan it’s worth noting that signing up for one of BT’s 6GB 15GB or 30GB plans means you’ll gain free access to BT Sports channels on the BT Sport App.You’ll be able to watch live Premier League games every weekend.

6.Free wifi hotspots

There are approximately 4,817,929 free BT wifi hotspot across the UK. They’re a great way to pay a little less for your mobile data. Free wifi hotspots have almost become the norm amongst the major mobile phone providers with Sky, Three or O2 offering the same service. It’s always worth checking out whether or not your chosen provider has this on offer. BT does one better than Sky, Three and O2 by having more hotspots, winner!

7.Spending caps

If your finances are in need of a good tightening then BT has the solution for you. You can set a monthly spending cap on your account so that if you use up all of your data, text and calls allowance, a spend cap of between £0 and £2.50 will prevent any nasty surprises come billing time.

8.Wi-Fi Calling

Wifi signal on a mobile phone for wifi calling

Nobody likes it when their phone cuts out, but with wifi-calling your dodgy signal problems should be a thing of the past. This service lets you text and call via the internet instead of through the traditional channel. Wifi calling doesn’t use any of your monthly data allowance so it’s worth looking into if you’re hoping to save money.

It’s worth noting that wifi calling only works on more recent phones (think the iphone 5S onwards) so if you’re using an older phone you may not be able to use it for these types of calls.

BT Mobile login and the BT Mobile appBT Mobile customers can log into their account via the BT Mobile app or via the BT website. BT Mobile reviews

What do BT customers have to say about the provider? BT Mobile received an overall score of 2 out of 5 stars on popular review site Trustpilot, but don’t let that deter you from signing up. Almost all major providers receive a maximum score of 1 and a half stars out of 5 on Trustpilot including Vodafone, Sky Mobile and O2.

Like all review bases, the tone from customers is mixed. Of the reviews given, 12% rated the service 5 out of 5 whereas 82% rated the service 1 out of 5. Christopher, a BT Mobile customer, said:

I don't understand the poor rating for BT Mobile. My entire family and my business accounts all run on BT Mobile. The coverage is fantastic, much better speeds than Three and VoLTE that no other provider offers. Give them a try, the deals are epic !!!!

At the other end of the spectrum, you have customers like Callum sharing their less than ideal experiences with BT Mobile:

Their complaints department is abysmal, never seen anything like it ...Total lack of communication will be changing...when my contract runs out.
