Thetford was supplied by 'Eastern Electricity Board' for its electricity until 1990; however, after privatisation, it became a plc company under the name of 'Eastern Electricity'. In 1995 the company was acquired by 'Hanson plc' and then again by 'Texas Utilities'. After this point it made its way to becoming how we know it today: It was purchased by 'Powergen', who would then become part of E·ON. The distribution network is now owned by UK Power Networks, who is the distribution network operator for Thetford.
Thetford's gas supply came from 'Eastern gas Board' between the years of 1948-1973; however, this ended when it became a region of the British Gas Corporation.
