The electricity supply in Yeovil between 1948-1990 was provided by 'South Western Electricity Board'; however, due to privatisation, it was forced into becoming a plc company. After various takeovers, the 'SWEB' branding was discontinued by EDF Energy in 2003. EDF further sold the company in 2010 to 'PPL', who rebranded it to become the company we know today as Western Power Distribution.

Before 1973, when all the regional gas boards merged into the British Gas, the gas in Yeovil came from 'South Western Gas Board'.
