All of Yorkshire's water supply, sewerage and drainage services are handled by one company: Yorkshire Water. With over 5.2 million people living in its service area, Yorkshire Water ensures water supply and treatment thanks to its 2,500 employees. As a private water company, Yorkshire Water ownership is shared between various foreign and institutional investors (such as a Singapore-based sovereign fund) through a holdings company. Yorkshire Water is fairly unique in that its supply area coincides exactly with Yorkshire geographically.

Yorkshire Water has a callback feature on its website. It's available for all the call options listed above. Requesting a callback can be handy if you don't want to be waiting in line for a long time. Yorkshire Water states that they call most of their customers back in about 15 minutes from when the callback request was made. Additionally, there are a couple of customer queries, where requesting a callback is the only way to get help from Yorkshire Water:

  1. Setting up Direct Debit
  2. Requesting a water meter

When calling Yorkshire Water expect to wait anywhere between 5 to 20 minutes depending on your query. For example, the automated and 24-hour phone numbers, for automated payments and leaks, have the shortest wait times. On the other hand, the phone line for bill payment problems which serves customers who are worried about being their financial situation and being able to pay their bills can leave callers waiting for up to 20 minutes.

Thankfully, there are other ways of contacting Yorkshire Water if picking up the phone is not your preferred way of sorting out your water queries.

Online Form, Postal Address, Social Media

Yorkshire Water provides an online form for customers to fill out and initiate contact with as much information upfront. The online form is located in the "Get in touch - General Enquiries" of the Yorkshire Water website. To get started you will need to provide the following details:

water payments
  1. Personal Information including email and phone contact details
  2. Yorkshire Water Account Details including your reference number and address on your bill
  3. Comments area to describe the nature of your query

Alternatively, Yorkshire Water provides a postal address as an option for customers needing to make a complaint: Yorkshire Water, Box 52, Bradford BD3 7YD. The good news is that if Yorkshire Water does not reply to a complaint within seven days of receipt, the customer is entitled to receive £25, based on Yorkshire Water's own customer care policies.

While Yorkshire Water does not have customer-facing emails, the water supplier is present on social media. On Twitter, Yorkshire Water is very active with not one but two accounts: @YorkshireWater for company news & PR and @YWHelp for customer support specifically.

Yorkshire Water no longer has a live chat that is accessible without logging in. The only to reach Yorkshire Water without having to log into your account is through the options outlined above.

Yorkshire Water Login

After correctly entering your Yorkshire Water login, you will have access to your Yorkshire Water account portal. This will allow you to sort out many common queries or issues regarding your account.

  2. View and pay your Yorkshire account balance
  3. Notify Yorkshire Water when moving home
  4. Submit the latest meter readings
  5. Switch to paperless billing

Since a Yorkshire Water login can help you solve all the primary issues and requests pertaining to your home water service, it's important to make sure you have the proper login credentials.

Your Yorkshire Water login is comprised of two parts:

Yorkshire Water Moving House

  1. Current home address
  2. New home address

Additionally, you also need to provide a bank account number and sort code if you need to set up a Direct Debit.

Yorkshire Water claims that once you've provided the above details, no more than seven days before moving, the water company will be able to get your meter readings and set up your account.
