IV. How This Information is Handled

The legal basis for the handling of your personal information is the following:

  • The Company’s evaluation of market offers (for energy tariffs and telecommunication services) before determining the best offer for you requires you to provide personal information so that Selectra SAS can carry out a comparison. Without your personal information, the Company cannot make recommendations.
  • Your consent allows us to contact you to send you offers, advertising and promotional communications relating to products or services marketed by Selectra SAS and / or its related entities, as well as by third parties dedicated to the industry sectors in which Selectra SAS works in.
  • The execution of contracts with the providers of the services in question (energy, telecommunications, security or any other sector). The Company needs you to provide your personal information in order to make comparisons and to offer you a contract. Without your personal information, the Company cannot tailor a comparison to your needs or make a recommendation about which service provider to go with. For example, if you wish to switch your electricity supply through the Selectra SAS comparison service, the Company will need to handle your personal information to manage the contract with the company that you have chosen so that the service can be started.
  • The Company has a legitimate interest in handling your future requests for advice or comparison efficiently.

V. How This Information is Shared

In order to offer a comparison service, the Company must be able to send your personal information to the service provider/s to be able to get pricing and product details that constitute the offer presented to you. For example, if an electricity provider is to supply you with power, the Company will need to pass on personal information so that the supply can be set up. The same applies to gas and telecommunications and other types of service providers. Therefore, it is necessary for the provision of the service that the Company shares the personal information to the providers of the products and services that Selectra SAS compares.

Bear in mind that if you wish to receive offers from or contract with a specific provider, Selectra SAS will communicate your personal information with that particular company and no other. You should know that if you provide additional information to the provider in question or if you wish to contract their services, then the use of your data will be subject to the provider's privacy policy.

There are two possible scenarios as to why we would handle your personal information:

  • If you do not accept the offer you will not sign up through the service provided by Selectra SAS, your personal information will be kept for a period of three years.

This is necessary so that you can contact the Company or so that the Company can let you know about new offers or services that could be of interest to you.

You can at any time object to Selectra SAS handling your personal information in connection with the reception of promotional communications. The Company will record your preferences and act accordingly to respect your objection.

If either:

XIII. How Customer Reviews Are Collected, Moderated and Scored

This section explains the methodology Selectra applies to the customer reviews displayed on supplier pages across our website. It covers how reviews are gathered, how we verify them, how they are sorted, and how the overall score is calculated.

How are reviews collected?

Customers who have used Selectra to sign up to a supplier receive, a few weeks after the contract is signed, an email inviting them to leave a review about that supplier. In addition, any internet user can, at any time, submit a review by clicking on "Publish my review". Submitting a review does not give the user any form of compensation.

How are reviews verified?

Selectra strives to publish only genuine reviews.

We ask every customer who submits a review to certify on their honour that they were, or still are, a real customer of the supplier they are reviewing, and to provide a valid email address.

Every submitted review is then checked by Selectra and is only published after this human verification. Any review that does not comply with our moderation rules, or that originates from an invalid email address, will not be published.

When a customer has signed up to a supplier through Selectra and leaves a review about that supplier using the same email address that was used to sign the contract, Selectra adds a "Verified customer" label next to the review. Otherwise, no label is added next to the review, because we cannot guarantee that the reviewer was, or still is, an actual customer of the supplier.

None of the data collected by Selectra as part of the publication of reviews is used for commercial purposes.

How are reviews sorted?

Reviews are sorted from the most recent to the oldest. When a supplier has received reviews from verified customers, by default only verified customer reviews are displayed. All reviews can be shown by switching off the "Verified customers only" option. Users can also choose to display only reviews with a specific rating by ticking the corresponding box.

How is the score calculated?

The supplier's score corresponds to the weighted average of all ratings received for that supplier. We have chosen to give a greater weight to ratings from verified customers and to recent ratings.

For any given review, the weighting factor P is equal to x × y, where:

  • x equals 2 if the review comes from a verified customer, or 1 if it comes from an unverified customer.
  • y equals 1.25 for a review less than 1 year old, 1 for a review between 1 and 2 years old, 0.75 for a review between 2 and 3 years old, 0.5 for a review between 3 and 4 years old, and 0.25 for a review more than 4 years old.
