BT Business solutions
BT splits its business offer up by the size of the customer. Whether you’re a small business or a multinational corporation, BT has something to cater to you. Here’s exactly how its offer is broken up:
- Small & medium businesses (SMEs) - up to 100 employees.
- Corporate services - between 101 - 4,000 employees.
- Large corporate solutions - over 4,000 employees.
- Public sector - for public service providers.
If you’ve come to us, it’s most likely you’ll be interested in BT’s services for SMEs, so we’ve focused our attention on this. Let’s take a look at what BT can offer your business:
BT Business broadband & voice
BT Business offers potential clients a range of packages with varying speeds so you can choose a deal what works best for you. Several of these are on special offer at the time of writing, and we’d suggest keeping an eye on the BT Business website to see if a deal that suits your company is going for cheaper.
Here’s how BT Business’s speeds are broken up:
|Standard Broadband||Superfast Fibre||Ultrafast Fibre 1||Ultrafast Fibre 2|
|Up to 17 Mbps downloads||Up to 76 Mbps downloads||Up to 152 Mbps downloads||Up to 314 Mbps downloads|
|Up to 1 Mbps uploads||Up to 19 Mbps uploads||Up to 29 Mbps uploads||Up to 48 Mbps uploads|
Bear in mind that these do not constitute individual broadband packages in themselves. The cost and added extras you get alongside each of these broadband speeds vary based on your needs. You can get either an Essential or Enhanced package and, alongside this, you can usually get either a Value (traditional) phone line or Cloud Voice Express.
Let’s take a look at BT Business’s Essential broadband packages:
|Broadband Essential||+ Value Line for £21.99/month||Traditional phone line Guest Wi-Fi|
||Not available with standard broadband.|
|Superfast Fibre Essential||+ Value Line for £31.99/month||Traditional phone line Guest Wi-Fi|
|+ Cloud Voice Express for £45.99/month||Digital phone line Same number for life Make/receive calls on the app Call filter Unlimited data Guest Wi-Fi|
As you will have noticed, BT’s Ultrafast fibre packages are not available as Essential packages. We assume those considering these packages won’t mind that much, as if you need the highest speeds you’ll also likely need the added features that come with the Enhanced packages. Let’s take a look at these now:
|Broadband Enhanced||+ Value Line for £31.99/month||Traditional phone line 1 static IP Device protection 4G Assure Enhanced IT Support Always keeps you connected Guest Wi-Fi|
||Not available with standard broadband.|
|Superfast Fibre Enhanced||+ Value Line for £41.99/month||Traditional phone line 1 static IP Device protection 4G Assure Enhanced IT Support Always keeps you connected Guest Wi-Fi|
|+ Cloud Voice Express for £57.99/month||Digital phone line Fixed price 1 static IP Same number for life Make/receive calls on the app Call filter Unlimited data Device protection 4G Assure Enhanced IT Support Always keeps you connected Guest Wi-Fi|
|Ultrafast Fibre 1 Enhanced||+ Value Line for £72/month||Traditional phone line 1 static IP Device protection 4G Assure Enhanced IT Support Always keeps you connected Guest Wi-Fi|
|+ Cloud Voice Express for £72/month||Digital phone line Fixed price 1 static IP Same number for life Make/receive calls on the app Call filter Unlimited data Device protection 4G Assure Enhanced IT Support Always keeps you connected Guest Wi-Fi|
|Ultrafast Fibre 2 Enhanced||+ Value Line for £84/month|
|+ Cloud Voice Express for £84/month||Digital phone line Fixed price 1 static IP Same number for life Make/receive calls on the app Call filter Unlimited data Device protection 4G Assure Enhanced IT Support Always keeps you connected Guest Wi-Fi|
You’ll notice when looking at BT’s Ultrafast Fibre deals that they cost the same whether you get a Value Line alongside them or Cloud Voice Express. This means that unless you’re ideologically opposed to progress, even if it means getting a much better deal, it’s really a no-brainer to add Cloud Voice Express to your deal.
Our two favourite features of Cloud Voice Express are i) being guaranteed the same phone number for life even if your business moves premises, which is easy when it’s totally digitised, and ii) being able to make calls from anywhere through the Cloud Voice Express app.
New customers will be charged £8.50 delivery on their order and are advised that all prices exclude VAT. If you’re thinking of an Essential package but want a free static IP address that comes with BT’s Enhanced packages, you can add one for £5.50 per month or five for £11 per month. If you’re not sure whether you need a static IP or even what a static IP is, see our guide which provides a complete explanation.
Here’s a list of further add-ons you can get for your business and how much they cost:
- Standard phone line: £6 per month
- Critical Care (24/7 engineering support): £6 per month
- Unlimited UK calls package: £10 per month
- International calls package (2,500 minutes): £10 per month
- Calling features: 1 feature for £4/month, 2-4 for £7.50/month, 5-7 for £10.50/month
- Microsoft Office 365: Free with the above packages

Frequently asked questions
Here we address a few common questions business owners ask about BT Business broadband:
How long will it take to get set up?
If you sign up to an Enhanced deal, you’ll be switched over the day after you make the order with no break in your connection. This is because 4G Assure will keep you connected even before an engineer has been to take care of the installation. If you’re not signing up to an Enhanced package, the most you can expect is the following wait times:
- If you’re installing a new line (broadband & phone): 10 days
- If you’re switching (broadband) from another provider: 10 days
- If you’re switching (broadband & phone) from another provider: 10 days
- If you’re switching from BT home broadband to BT business: 5 days
Can I upgrade to a new deal?
Yes, of course. You just have to get in touch with BT. You can find out the best way to do so via our contact page.
Can I use BT’s 5 million Wi-Fi hotspots?
Yes, you can. When you’re in range of one, just sign in with your email address and the details BT gives you when you join. If you’re using BT’s Wi-Fi app, you’ll be connected automatically when you’re in range of a hotspot.
How easy is to switch to BT?
It’s very easy. All you do is choose the deal that suits your business on BT’s website, then buy either online or by phone. The process of switching is then handled for you, and you can also keep your current phone number if you like - just let BT know and they will contact your current provider to arrange the transfer.
