What Is Community Fibre?

Community Fibre is a start-up broadband provider that specialises in ultra-fast fibre broadband for its customers in 26 London boroughs. To date they’ve raised almost £100 million in start-up funding.

Community Fibre began its operations in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2020 when it really ramped-up its offering after it was acquired by private equity fund Warburg Pincus. Since then, Community Fibre has gone on to win the following ISPA Awards:

  • Best consumer Internet Service Provider 2021
  • Social Impact Award 2021
  • Best Ultrafast ISP 2021

What Network Does Community Fibre Use?

ethernet cable and fibre cable

Community Fibre has built its own fibre network which is why it's not available to everyone, yet. The provider also claims to use the most advanced technology currently available to deliver speeds of up to 10Gbps - which is much faster than providers using the BT Openreach network such as BT, Vodafone, TalkTalk, etc. In fact, its speed is only rivalled by Virgin Media which also uses its own fibre network.

Where Is Community Fibre Available?

At present Community Fibre is only available in parts of London. To check if your property is covered by the Community Fibre network, you should check the suppliers' website to find out if your home is part of its network.

When Will Community Fibre Be In My Area? As Community Fibre runs on its own network, its rollout is based on demand. If you’ve checked for coverage on the providers website and it shows as unavailable, you can enter your details to be kept up to date on the Community Fibre network rollout. By doing this, Community Fibre will know there’s demand and be able to prioritise your area accordingly.

  Positive Community Fibre Review

Satisfied customers who chose to leave a Community Fibre review on Trustpilot praise the provider for its installation process, particularly its band of Community Fibre engineers.

Isaiah did a good job of the installation, it looks clean and everything works.

Installed by the engineer Isaiah, he did a great job of installing Community Fibre quickly for me in my place. Now got fantastic internet speeds.

Shavhardo was very helpful and repaired our Wi-fi really quickly and efficiently! Thank you

Alan was personable, polite and did exactly what he promised to do. He was genuine in his approach and it felt like he was attentive to what I needed as a customer.

Thank you Alan, I look forward to being a community fibre customer!

  Negative Community Fibre Review

The majority of dissatisfied customers who left a Community Fibre review seem to have had an issue with the customer service or connectivity. That being said, Community Fibre does reach out to negative reviews to try and resolve any issues its customers are having.

Just moved into a new flat last week and decided to try out the community fiber network. Their engineering team came for installation and told me they need to call another team in before I could get connected.

The so-called the other team is actually contractors and it's been over 90 hours since the hassle and no-one called back since then.

Really surprised how this can be a 5 star service.

Info provided to Community Fiber, no feedback from them yet.

the worse provider so far,we had been previously with BT than Sky and we thoguth to update to a fibre would improve the service...unfortunatly since we moved to communityfibre we are having the slower service ever, even when we are in the same room where the router is...

Can community fibre please stop sending me interior engineers for an outdoor issue - no wifi for 9 days and counting.

Were helpful at first but once signed up no help with any issues you have. Signal strength is poor and cant even give full range to a small flat and signal only works adequately in living room only and phone wifi just forget it. Boosters they charge £5 a month when you can just buy one on Amazon for £15 and they can deliver 1000mbps.
