Who Are Cuckoo Broadband?

Cuckoo Broadband, also known as Cuckoo Internet is an ISP (Internet Service Provider) start-up founded in 2019 and began providing service to its first customers in May 2020. Its main aim is disrupting the broadband market in the UK. Started with seed funding of just £470,000, and more recently in April 2021, it raised £4.3 million to fund its future growth. The provider is backed by eight investors.

Cuckoo Broadband co-founder Alexander Fitzgerald previously worked for Bulb Energy helping the energy supplier grow to 1.5 million customers. He was inspired to start Cuckoo Broadband out of frustration with BT when his father was facing numerous difficulties with his BT Broadband connection.

The broadband market is broken and consumers are being ripped off every day. The importance of fast, reliable and affordable broadband has come into sharper focus with millions of people working from home over the past year. We’re excited that this funding will enable us to help tens of thousands of people across the country make their broadband simple, for good.

Can’t recommend them enough. Flawless connection even at their lower-end broadbands. Implementation and after sale care and customer service are one of the best I’ve had. Very happy we’ve trusted Cuckoo.

Fast delivery and even faster broadband! Really good experience.

I am very impressed with the speed and service from Cuckoo. Almost nobody knows them as they are a new established company. I gave them a chance and also invited one of my friends to join as well. She is also very happy with the service. Thank you Cuckoo.

I gave you 1 star because I have lost the internet 3 or 4 times and I have not been long with your company.

The internet has been poor and going off on intervals poor connection for a few hours at a time sometimes and I can't even get in contact with anyone.

Cuckoo Broadband Deals

pile of money

Cuckoo Broadband is built on simplicity, for this reason Cuckoo Broadband deals are simple, easy and include line rental as part of the advertised price.

  1. Choose your speed
  2. Choose a rolling or 12 month contract

So how much can you expect to pay for a Cuckoo Broadband deal? Let’s take a look at what the options are:

Cuckoo Broadband Speed Options
Features Fast Really Fast Eggceptional
Average download speed 67Mbps 98Mbps 900Mbps
Average upload speed 8Mbps 20Mbps 115Mbps
Landline required
Video calls with 20 people 40 people 100 people
Price per month £29.99 £39.99 £54.99

Correct as of 06/05/2022

Then you have your contract options. Unlike a lot of other broadband providers in the UK, with the exception of providers like Direct Save Telecom, Cuckoo Broadband deals offer a rolling contract option, meaning you’re not locked-in and can cancel at any time. Alternatively you can choose a 12 month contract.

So should you choose a rolling contract or a 12 month contract when signing up to a Cuckoo Broadband deal? Well, it really depends on your needs. For example, students going to university might benefit from a rolling contract to avoid charges during summer holidays or if you’ve just arrived in the UK from overseas and are here for a short period of time for work. For most other cases, a 12 month contract would work out better.

We should point out that there’s a £60 setup fee for customers that choose the rolling contract. Likewise, the exit fee for cancelling early on a 12 month contract is also £60.
