Who Are Outfox the Market?

Outfox the Market is a small, independent energy provider that promises cut-price energy deals sourced from renewables sources. The company trades under the name Foxglove Energy, which also now owns Fischer Energy.

Is Outfox the Market Going Bust?

There have been rumours of Outfox the Market going bust due to the ongoing energy crisis. There have also been concerns with their customer service and a series of price hikes. However, Outfox the Market is a subsidiary of Foxglove Energy Supply and is able to protect customers from Outfox the Market going bust against the surging wholesale gas prices.

There will be an Outfox the Market price increase after 1 April as the energy regulator Ofgem has raised the price cap to a new historic high. While these price rises are meant to prevent Outfox the Market going bust, Outfox the Market generally tries to keep its prices below the price cap.

Outfox the Market took to social media to assure customers that it was not going bust and it didn’t. It remains active to this day and does not seem to be at risk of closing. In short, you shouldn’t be worried about Outfox the Market going bust.

In January 2020, Ofgem gave Outfox the Market a deadline to pay £602,930 or risk sanctions due to its failure to pay its FiT payments.

Outfox the Market Reviews

If the consumer review site Trustpilot is anything to go by, Outfox the Market reviews seem to be overwhelmingly positive. Of the nearly 31,000 customers who have left reviews on the provider, more than three quarters recorded a positive experience, 67% giving it the best rating of Excellent.

This is especially impressive as people tend to go to sites like Trustpilot in order to complain about their service, which makes positive reviews something of a rarity. Outfox the Market reviews, however, tend to focus on the positives - reviewers are particularly happy with the provider’s dedication to keeping customers’ bills low:

I've never been with a supplier where my bills have gone down. Really pleased that this company is committed to sustainable energy. I found it very simple to switch to Outfox the market, their prices are coming down now and are very competitive.

It’s true, a provider that will bring your bills down after you’ve signed up is not something we come across every day. As you can see, also coming in for praise is its commitment to sustainable energy and the simplicity of switching to Outfox the Market.

Overall, we can see why Outfox the Market reviews have a TrustScore of 4.4 out of 5. Its customers are a happy bunch and we hope they continue to get the service they’ve been getting from Outfox the Market. For more information on Outfox the Market reviews, see our dedicated page.

Outfox the Market Price Increase

Due to the ongoing energy crisis and the increase in the wholesale price of gas, many energy suppliers have been struggling to battle the rising costs. The Outfox the Market price increase began after the price cap in October 2021 and prices have continued to rise through to 2022.

The latest Outfox the Market price increase will come into effect from 1 April due to Ofgem raising the price cap to historic new levels. Normally the Outfox the Market price increase is below the price cap rate, however many customers might find themselves struggling with the increased costs.

Outfox the Market Fuel Mix

Ofgem regulations mean that every UK energy provider has to make information about its fuel mix publicly available, and Outfox the Market is no different. Luckily, this provider is particularly proud of its fuel mix, and with good reason:

- Coal Natural gas Nuclear Renewables Other
Outfox the Market 0% 0% 0% 100% 0%
Market average 2.7% 38.2% 16.1% 40.3% 2.7%

*The numbers in this table may not add up to 100 due to rounding.

As you can see, Outfox the Market’s fuel mix is made up of 100% renewable energy sources, specifically UK wind farms. This will be a big draw for those who like to do what they can to protect the environment, who will be encouraged to know that their company’s energy is produced entirely from wind power and does not rely on burning fossil fuels.

Outfox the Market Smart Meters

Outfox the Market has begun their rollout of smart meters. If you already have a smart meter and it's the older type of smart meter (SMETS1), Outfox the Market will try to connect to the Outfox the Market smart meter system. However, there is no guarantee the supplier will be able to because the older smart meters are not always compatible and it will revert to a standard meter when you switch, meaning you will need to provide a meter reading once a month, which you can do online via your account. You can also send a photo of your reading via email if you prefer.

Customers with the newer smart meter (SMETS2) shouldn't have to worry about losing the smart functionality of their meters. Most suppliers can easily connect to them and Outfox the Market will be in touch shortly after the switch to let you know when it will connect to it. They will also be able to install an Outfox the Market smart meter in your property free of charge so you will be able send them regular meter readings.

Outfox the Market Warm Home Discount

If you are eligible as a Core Group customer, Outfox the Market will notify you and the discount will be applied to your bill automatically. You don't need to do anything.
