water-drop

There are four steps to make a Bristol Water complaint. In most cases, the Bristol Water contact team will aim to resolve your complaint by step two. However, if you are not satisfied with the resolution, you can escalate your complaint to the Consumer Council for Water(CCW) and then further still to the Water Redress Scheme (WATRS).

Bristol Water Complaint: Step 1

The first step in making a complaint to Bristol Water is to speak to the Bristol Water contact team and let them know why you’re unhappy with Bristol Water.

They will listen to your complaint and try to resolve it there and then. They will take your information and respond to you within 5 working days if they can’t resolve your complaint. Unfortunately, you can't switch water suppliers so you will have to be patient and let Bristol Water handle the complaint.

You are entitled to compensation if Bristol Water does not respond to your Bristol Water complaint within 10 working days.

You can make your complaint with Bristol Water by phone, email, live chat or post.

Bristol Water Complaint: Step 2

Should you still be unhappy with Bristol Water after they contact you with their initial resolution, you can escalate your complaint to a Bristol Water customer services senior manager to review.

They will look at your complaint and may contact you to request further information that can help resolve your complaint.

Bristol Water Complaint: Step 3

Once your complaint has been through Bristol Water Complaint Step 1 and Step 2, you can escalate your complaint further to the CCW. You can contact CCW after your complaint has been open for eight weeks and you are not satisfied with the outcome. CCW will take action against Bristol Water if they think your complaint is justified.

Don’t take your complaint to Ofwat! If you have a complaint, do not take it to the water regulator Ofwat as they will be unable to help you. Ofwat only deals with anti-competitive behaviour in the water industry and does not deal with the individual complaints against water suppliers. The CCW is the correct body.

You can get in touch with CCW in three ways:

Bristol Water Complaint: Step 4

After you have gone through the previous three steps and your complaint is still unresolved, you can escalate your complaint to WATRS.

They will look at your complaint and review all the communications between you and the Bristol Water contact team to see why the complaint has reached their desk. WATRS is the ultimate step in making a Bristol Water complaint and they will provide an independent binding decision.

You can escalate your complaint to WATRS in one of four ways:
