Why is my United Utilities bill so high?

rishing arrow

It really depends on if you have a water meter or not. United Utilities reported that over 30,000 customers who have a water meter have saved a combined total of over £4 million on their United Utilities bill.

We recommend having a United Utilities water meter installed as they have a lowest bill guarantee. What this means is that they will compare the bill they send you, and if it was cheaper with your old, rateable value billing, that’s what you’ll pay - whichever is the cheapest.

The lowest bill guarantee is valid for two years from the installation of the meter. If you’re not happy with your meter after two years, you are free to switch back to rateable value billing and United Utilities will come and disconnect your water meter.

It is free of charge to have a water meter installed. It’s also free to have it removed if you change your mind. You can contact the United Utilities water meter team on 0345 072 6065 to discuss getting a water meter installed, or you can request a water meter via your United Utilities MyAccout portal online.
