There are four steps you can take when making a Wessex Water complaint. It will depend on the severity of your complaint, but you must follow each step in order.

When will Wessex Water reply to my complaint? Wessex Water promises to respond to your complaint within 10 working days. If they don’t, they will pay you compensation for failing to meet their promise. The compensation is between £5 and £1,000. They may award the compensation automatically, or you may need to claim it.

Wessex Water Complaint: Step 1

Call the Wessex Water contact number for billing or sewerage depending on which service you have a complaint about.

The Wessex Water customer services agent will take your complaint and try to resolve it there and then. Should they need to investigate your complaint further, they will take your contact details and aim to reply to you within five working days.

Wessex Water Complaint: Step 2

Step 2 of the Wessex Water complaints process is to have your complaint escalated to a senior manager.

Again, you will need to call the same Wessex Water contact number you called previously and ask for your complaint to be escalated.

The Wessex Water customer services representative will confirm your contact information and escalate your Wessex Water complaint to a senior manager for further investigation.

The manager will then get in touch with you once they have reviewed your complaint and have a resolution for you.

You can go to Step 3 if you are still unsatisfied with the outcome of your complaint.

Wessex Water Complaint: Step 3

Once your complaint has been open for eight weeks, or if they did not resolve it at the last step, you can take your complaint to the Consumer Council for Water (CCW). They are an independent body for water complaints and are similar to an ombudsman.

You can contact CCW in the following ways:

Phone 0300 034 2222
Website http://www.ccwater.org.uk
Post CCW
1st Floor Victoria Square House
Victoria Square
Birmingham

The CCW helpline is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm.

Finally, if the CCW doesn’t resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you can take your complaint to the last step.

Don't take your complaint to Ofwat! Do not contact the water regulator Ofwat about your complaint with Wessex Water as they will be unable to help you. Ofwat only regulates the water market and deals with anti-competitive behaviour in the sector. The correct organisation to help you with complaints is the CCW.

Wessex Water Complaint: Step 4

The last step for a Wessex Water complaint is to raise your complaint with the Water Redress Scheme (WATRS). They will take your complaint only after your complaint has not had a satisfactory resolution from the CCW.

WATRS is an independent organisation and will provide a binding decision that Wessex Water must accept.
