Yorkshire Water operates 0345 numbers. These are not premium rates and will cost the same as a local rate call. If you have a call plan on your phone, there are often 0345 numbers included with your plan. So the Yorkshire Water contact is usually free to call without extra charge.

Is Yorkshire Water a hard water area? Like most of England, Yorkshire Water supplies soft water to its customers. This is due to the lower concentration of minerals in the drinking water. To find out more about hard and soft water, check out our Water Hardness guide.

Yorkshire Water Contact Number for Complaints

megaphone

If you need to talk to Yorkshire Water about a complaint, there is a standard procedure you should follow so you get your complaint dealt with as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, you can’t switch water suppliers so you will need to be patient and let Yorkshire Water handle the complaint.

Yorkshire Water Complaints: Step 1

You should first contact Yorkshire Water directly about your complaint. You can either call them on the Yorkshire Water contact number on 0345 124 2424 or you can contact them via email.

If you choose email, remember to use the first paragraph explaining what the issue is and then the second paragraph explaining what you want done about it.

Yorkshire Water Complaints: Step 2

If Yorkshire Water doesn't get back to you, you should raise the complaint to a manager and give them at least 8 weeks to respond. If they don’t, you can proceed to Step 3.

Yorkshire Water Complaints: Step 3

If you’ve not heard from Yorkshire Water for 8 weeks, you can escalate your complaint to the Consumer Council for Water (CCW). The CCW is an official body that deals with water complaints after a water company has failed.

Yorkshire Water Complaints: Step 4

If you are dissatisfied with the CCW’s response to your complaint, you can escalate your water complaint further to the Water Redress Scheme (WATRS). This is the last resort and is only for long-term disputes.

How Do I Report a Water Leak to Yorkshire Water?

The easiest way to report a leak to Yorkshire Water is by calling the 24/7 Yorkshire Water Leakline on 0800 57 35 53. This is a Yorkshire Water contact number that is on-hand 24 hours a day and you can report a leak or any other clean-water or sewerage problem on that number.

Don’t take your complaint to Ofwat! If you have a complaint, do not take it to the water regulator Ofwat as they will be unable to help you. Ofwat only deals with anti-competitive behaviour in the water industry and does not deal with the individual complaints against water suppliers. The CCW is the correct body.
