Selectra tip

Top-up vs Pay As You Go Plan

“Top up” and “buy a Pay As You Go Plan” are not the same thing. A plain top-up adds credit to your SIM at EE’s standard PAYG rates (good for emergency use). A Pay As You Go Plan converts £10 or more into a 30-day allowance with unlimited UK minutes, unlimited texts and a chunk of data.

If you only need a few quid in case of emergencies, top up. If you plan to use the SIM regularly, go straight for the £10, £15 or £20 Pay As You Go Plan online or in the My EE app, it works out far cheaper per minute and per GB.

FAQ

EE top-up questions, answered

What is the minimum EE top-up?

The minimum EE top-up is £5 when adding credit only, and £10 for a Pay As You Go Plan with unlimited minutes and texts. Top-ups go up in £5 increments to £30. The text-to-top-up service (CR ...) has a £5 minimum and a £95 maximum per text.

How long does an EE top-up take?

Card top-ups online, in the My EE app and by phone on 150 are credited within 60 seconds of payment confirmation. Voucher redemptions land as soon as you enter the 16-digit code. Auto top-up charges fire within a couple of minutes once the trigger is met.

Can I top up an EE SIM from abroad?

Yes. Sign in to ee.co.uk or open the My EE app from any device anywhere in the world, the credit lands on your UK SIM immediately. You can also top up by phone on +44 7953 966 250 using a registered debit or credit card. If you are abroad with your EE SIM in hand, dial +44 7953 966 250 rather than 150.

How do I check my EE PAYG balance?

Three free options. (1) Dial 150 from your EE SIM and follow the menu. (2) Text BALANCE to 150 for a free reply text with credit and plan allowance. (3) Sign in to ee.co.uk or open the My EE app, where the dashboard shows credit, any active plan and its renewal date.

Do EE Pay As You Go Plans roll over unused data?

Yes. Any data left over from a 30-day Pay As You Go Plan rolls into your next plan, provided you renew within seven days of the previous plan expiring. Minutes and texts do not roll over because they are already unlimited.

How do I change my EE Pay As You Go Plan?

Three options. (1) Sign in to My EE and pick a new plan from the menu. (2) Text ALL PACKS to 150 and reply with the plan you want. (3) Call 150 and follow the automated menu. The new plan starts as soon as the current one expires, or text NOW to 150 to switch instantly (this wipes any leftover allowance).

How do I cancel EE auto top-up?

Sign in to My EE → Top up → Auto top-upCancel. Your saved card is removed and no further automatic charges happen. You can still top up manually any time by any of the methods above.
