Getting in touch with a company that's officially out of business sounds like it may be impossible, but don't fret, that's not the case. Below we've outlined the multiple Economy Energy contact details so you can resolve any pending issues.

Economy Energy contact number
Since Economy Energy stopped trading, the main reason most customers will need to contact the supplier are related to final bills and any debt owed to the supplier. If you have recieved your Economy Energy final bill over five weeks ago and still do not have the credit in your new Ovo account, have not recieved your final bill, or owe the supplier money, you need to ring the customer liasion team on the following contact number.
Ovo Energy customer support team: 0330 102 7428While the supplier was still trading, customers could get in touch with the customer service team using the Economy Energy contact telephone number. The provider only had one phone number, so customers could ring the following number no matter the issue, however this phone number is no longer in use.
Customers could contact Economy Energy on this line during the company’s opening hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 7:30pm, and Saturday from 8am to 5:30pm.
We tested the old number and while our call was answered by Economy Energy customer service in just a few seconds, after clarifying whether we were calling regarding a standard or prepaid meter, we were immediately transferred to either an Ovo Energy or Boost Energy customer service representative.
Is the contact number free?
Ovo Energy's (the new supplier) contact number is not free, but it is included in mobile minutes. As a 0333 number, the call will be charged at the standard rate if called from a landline. However, if called from a mobile, it will be included in your monthly mobile minutes so will appear free.
Out of hours contact number
Economy Energy did not have an out of hours contact number. If customers wished to contact the supplier outside of its business hours (Monday to Friday: 8am - 7:30pm, Saturday: 8am - 5:30pm) the best bet is to use one of the supplier’s alternative contact methods, such as email or post.
Emergency contact number
Like most suppliers, Economy Energy does not have an emergency contact number. This is because your energy supplier is not the right point of contact if you experience an emergency such as a gas leak or power outage.
Gas leakIf you suspect a gas leak in your home, you need to call the National Gas Emergency Line on 0800 111 999. This is a 24/7 free telephone service.
Power outageIf you suddenly experience a loss of electricity, it could be a network scale problem. Call 105 to determine if it is a network-wide outage or specific to you. Services will work to get the supply up and running as soon as they can.
If your gas supply gets cut, it may be an issue with your gas distributor, not your energy supplier. In this case, you need to contact your distributor to report the issue and find out more information.
Other Economy Energy contact options
Besides telephone, there were a number of different Economy Energy contact methods available. These were ideal if a customer’s issue was not urgent or they were unable to contact the supplier during its operating hours.
Email addressEconomy Energy had two contact email addresses - one for standard queries and one for priority services. The Priority Services Register was designed for vulnerable customers (such as customers with a disability, those with young children or the elderly) to receive priority assistance. Sending an email to this address ensured issues were dealt with as quickly as possible. The standard email has been replaced by their administrator's email address. The priority services email has been replaced by Ovo's email address, as Ovo Energy does not have its own dedicated email address for the Priority Services Register. However, those interested can contact them at the email address below.
Economy Energy contact email address:- Economy Energy's Administrator: [email protected]
- Ovo Energy's Email (Priority Services Register): [email protected]
Postal address
A further way to contact Economy Energy was by post. Customers could send a written letter to the company’s head office in Warwick and the Economy Energy customer service would get back to them via their preferred contact method e.g. phone or email. However now that Economy Energy has closed, it is best to contact them at the following address:
- Ovo Energy's address: OVO Energy, 1 Rivergate Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6ED
Social media
Economy Energy had virtually no social media presence. It seemed to have no official Facebook page and its Twitter account never actually sent out a tweet. The provider’s most active social media page, its Youtube account, only ever uploaded one video.
This lack of social media presence is surprising as most energy providers see social media platforms as another way to stay in touch with their customers.
Online accountThe Economy Energy online account was another resource available to customers. This allowed customers to manage their energy usage and even top up their credit from the comfort of their own home.
While this isn’t exactly an Economy Energy contact method, it was a resource customers could use to find answers to questions and save them getting in touch with customer service when it wasn’t needed. Find out more about the Economy Energy online account and the new system now available to customers in our Economy Energy login guide.
Complaints
Economy Energy's customer service was complained about quote frequently on online review sites. (read our Economy Energy reviews page for more details) Unfortunately, the provider’s slow complaint handling process meant customers found their complaints were left unresolved.
Customers who needed to complain could contact Economy Energy using any one of the contact methods previously mentioned, however now that the company has closed, you can contact them using the below:
- Ovo's Energy's contact number: 0330 102 7428
- Economy Energy's Administrator: [email protected]
- Ovo Energy's address: OVO Energy, 1 Rivergate Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6ED
Administrators
If Economy Energy owed you compensation, you need to contact the administrator who is dealing with the company's fall out. You can contact the appointed administrator, Grant Thornton, on [email protected].
If you have an unresolved complaint with Economy Energy, contact the supplier of last resort (Ovo Energy) to see if it can help you find a satisfactory resolution, but bare in mind it has no obligation to resolve the complaint. If it cannot help you, contact Ofgem or the Energy Ombudsman to discuss your options.
