From BT Sport to TNT Sports: what changed
BT spent more than a decade running BT Sport as a direct competitor to Sky Sports. In 2022 BT sold the sports broadcasting business into a 50/50 joint venture with Warner Bros. Discovery (the owner of Eurosport, CNN and HBO Max), which launched as TNT Sports on 18 July 2023. The channels kept their slots on Sky, Virgin Media, EE TV and Amazon Prime; the apps and pricing were unified with Discovery\'s streaming brand discovery+; and existing BT Sport on Sky subscribers were migrated to the new branding automatically with no change to their bill or contract.
In practice, almost nothing changed for the viewer apart from the colour scheme. Premier League fixtures (the Saturday lunchtime live game), UEFA Champions League and Europa League rights (every single match through to the 2026/27 season), Premiership Rugby, UFC, MotoGP and the Premier Boxing Champions calendar all moved across with the rebrand. The rights stay with TNT Sports for at least the next two seasons.

How to subscribe to TNT Sports on Sky
Sky offers TNT Sports as a TV bolt-on, so the subscription is added through your existing Sky account. There is no need to be a BT broadband customer (or to switch broadband at all). Three routes work, depending on how you prefer to handle subscriptions.
Through Sky
Sign in to MySky, open "TV" then "Manage your subscription" and add TNT Sports. Charged on your monthly Sky bill, activates within minutes.
Easiest routeThrough TNT Sports
Sign up on the TNT Sports website using the same email as your Sky account, link the Sky viewing card number when prompted. Billed separately by Discovery, useful if you also want discovery+ on mobile.
Includes discovery+By phone
Call Sky on 03442 411 411 if you are still on a legacy Sky+ box that does not show the TNT Sports add-on in MySky.

Selectra expert explains
If your priority is Champions League nights or the Saturday lunchtime Premier League kick-off, TNT Sports is unmissable. But it does not carry the bulk of the Premier League (Sky Sports holds the Sunday and Monday games) or Formula 1. To watch every televised football match in the UK, you need both Sky Sports and TNT Sports.
Watching TNT Sports in 4K UHD on Sky
The 4K UHD feed (formerly BT Sport Ultimate) carries the biggest fixture of the weekend: usually the Saturday lunchtime Premier League game, the marquee Champions League tie and the headline UFC main event. On Sky Q, Sky Glass and Sky Stream, open the discovery+ app, sign in with the email used on the TNT Sports subscription, then start the live match: the stream automatically detects a 4K-capable TV and switches to UHD with Dolby Atmos surround sound. The native Sky EPG carries the HD feed only.
Older Sky+ HD boxes do not support 4K and only carry the HD feed. Sky Q Mini boxes inherit the 4K signal from the parent box but downscale to 1080p on the secondary screen.
TNT Sports on Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q
All three current Sky platforms support TNT Sports natively in the channel list. The subscription is identical across them, but the activation route differs slightly because Sky Glass and Sky Stream do not use a physical viewing card.
Sky Q
Released from 2016
Sky Q boxes handle TNT Sports through the standard EPG. Subscribe through MySky, restart the box, and the four channels appear in the 410-413 slot range. The 4K feed plays through the discovery+ app, preinstalled.
Full 4K via appSky Glass
Streaming TV, no dish
Sky Glass televisions stream over broadband, so there is no viewing card. TNT Sports activates instantly after subscribing on MySky and slots straight into the unified channel list. discovery+ is preinstalled for the 4K UHD feed.
Instant activationSky Stream
Puck for any TV
Sky Stream uses the same unified EPG as Glass. TNT Sports activates instantly through MySky. The discovery+ app needs a one-time install from the Apps menu (around two minutes) before the 4K UHD feed becomes available.
2-min app installCheaper alternatives to TNT Sports on Sky
TNT Sports on Sky is not the cheapest way to watch the channels. If you do not care about having everything on one Sky bill, three other routes work out cheaper or more flexible.

How to cancel TNT Sports on Sky
Cancelling is straightforward on the rolling monthly plan and slightly more expensive on the 24-month plan if you leave inside the minimum term. Sky requires 31 days notice in both cases.
- Sign in to MySky on sky.com.
- Open "TV", then "Manage your subscription".
- Choose TNT Sports and follow the on-screen cancellation link.
- Confirm the cancellation date: Sky bills in advance, so the subscription continues to the end of the next 31-day billing window.
- If MySky does not show the option (most often on legacy accounts), call Sky on 03337 591 213 and ask for the TNT Sports team directly.
On the rolling monthly plan, no exit fee applies. On the 24-month plan, the standard early termination charge for TV add-ons is around £20-£25 per month remaining. The amount appears in the cancellation confirmation before you confirm.
Frequently asked questions
No. BT Sport was rebranded as TNT Sports on 18 July 2023 when BT sold its sports broadcasting business into the Warner Bros. Discovery joint venture that runs Eurosport. Existing BT Sport on Sky subscribers were migrated automatically. The channels, the line-up and the access route on Sky are the same, only the name and the branding have changed.
TNT Sports on Sky costs £30.99 a month on a 24-month contract or £35 a month on a rolling monthly contract. The price includes all four TNT Sports channels (TNT Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4), TNT Sports Ultimate in 4K UHD with Dolby Atmos, and on-demand access through the discovery+ app at no extra cost.
No. TNT Sports is sold as a standalone subscription that bolts onto a Sky TV account (and, separately, onto Virgin Media TV, EE TV, Amazon Prime Video and the discovery+ app). You can mix and match: keep your existing broadband with whoever you like and add TNT Sports through Sky as a TV-only add-on.
Yes, with one caveat. The four linear TNT Sports channels are on the Sky Glass and Sky Stream electronic programme guide, but the 4K UHD feed (TNT Sports Ultimate) plays through the discovery+ app rather than the native EPG. Sign in to discovery+ with the same email you used for the TNT Sports subscription and Ultimate plays in 4K with Dolby Atmos on compatible TVs.
Not directly. Sky Go does not carry TNT Sports. To watch TNT Sports on a mobile or tablet, install the discovery+ app (formerly the BT Sport app) and sign in with the email and password attached to the TNT Sports subscription on your Sky account.
Sign in to MySky on sky.com, choose "TV", then "Manage your subscription", and follow the cancellation link. You can also call Sky on 03337 591 213. If you are on the 24-month plan and still inside the minimum term, an early termination charge of roughly £20-£25 a month for every month remaining applies.
Next steps
Once TNT Sports is active on the account, sign in to the discovery+ app on every device you watch sport on (Sky box, smart TV, phone, tablet, Fire Stick) so the 4K UHD feed and the on-demand replays are always one tap away. Useful follow-up reading.
